On March 30, 1853, Vincent Willem van Gogh is born in the Netherlands. From an early age, he reveals a restless soul, trying his hand as an art dealer, teacher, and lay preacher – yet he never quite finds his place.

The tragic end of a genius

Van Gogh moves to the village of Auvers-sur-Oise, where he is cared for by Dr. Gachet. On July 27, 1890, he shoots himself in the chest. Two days later, he dies – poor, misunderstood, yet leaving behind an artistic legacy that would change the world forever.
